What is Tour Med?

TourMed is a team of physicians who specialize in caring for performing artists. We are board- certified physicians (MD/DO) who primarily practice sports medicine with an understanding of the unique needs of a performing artist and the complex demands of being on tour. We work closely with other medical professionals including physical therapists and mental health specialists to create the care team every performing artist deserves.

What makes Tour Med different?

In addition to having an understanding of performing artists and decades of experience caring for performers/tours, TourMed’s goal is to improve access to care and continuity of care for touring artists. We understand the time demands and atypical schedules and seek to help the performers get immediate access to care in a way that works with their demanding schedules. We provide same day appointments through virtual visits and can help connect our patients to physicians across the country while on the road

Why is Tour Med Needed?

TourMed keeps artists safer, healthier, and keeps medical costs down. Studies have repeatedly shown that continuity of care (the ability to see one’s own doctor and good communication during transitions of care between doctors) decreases medical errors and significantly decreases costs.

By having a consistent physician team navigating medical needs, health problems can be taken care of more quickly rather than starting over in every new city with a new provider when problems persist.

Having a tour physician contact also provides the opportunity for “head to toe” holistic care specialized to the artist as well as providing preventative care to treat problems earlier and more safely.

A tour physician also serves as a liaison to connect artists to other qualified specialists if needed when moving between cities.
